Overcoming Gum Infection With Proper Dental Care
To clean teeth and below the gumline and disrupt the build up of bacteria plaque and tartar, dental hygienists or dentists typically use special instruments. This is actually a standardized procedure to prevent any further progress of established gum infection or periodontal disease. Dental studies have shown that bacteria and plaque tend to grow back to pre-cleaning levels after about three to four months after the professional cleaning has been undertaken. The early onset of gum infection or advanced periodontal disease is expected to be prevented by regular professional cleanings. Periodontal disease will not be prevented nor overcame without daily and proper dental care, especially when the dental patient has an extensive periodontal disease history.
